Week 1 --> Jan. 19-23

I finally have my placement set up and I'm really excited. My mentor is a fellow teacher who I'd admired for a while now because of her amazing technology skills. The kids talk about how fun she makes class. When I ask them why, or how, they tell me because of how she teaches with technology. This made me think she would be a perfect mentor for me!

This week I didn't use much technology other than my SMART board, which is acting up by the way...grrr! I honestly have to say that I don't use my SMART board to its full potention I know. There is sooooo much to learn and it is a little overwhelming. Lisa (that is my mentor) is awesome with her SMART board so I think that is one thing I will work on with her this semester. One thing she did teach me this week was how to use the camera in the SMART tools software. The camera allows me to basically take screen shots of my documents and save them as PDF's which is very nice. Before I was running to the copy machine and scanning them into PDF's. While this still works it doesn't allow color PDF's. Now I can make color PDF's to put on my class website!

Next week in class I'm going to be having one of my classes create web pages. Again, Lisa is going to help me put together a step-by-step "how-to" guide for my students to use. More about that next week...
